Pteridophytes (Ferns and Allies)

There are about 9,000 to 14,000 species of Pteridophytes. Pteridophytes are vascular plants that have fronds (leaves), roots and sometimes true stems. Many ferns from tropical rain forests are epiphytes. Pteridophytes do not have seeds or flowers, they reproduce via spores.  They consist of about 35 plant families and 568 plant genera.
