Pinophyta (Conifer Division)

Pinophyta, Coniferophyta or Coniferae are also commonly known as conifer division. These plants bear cone containing seeds and wood composed of tracheids. The division is made up of mostly evergreen trees and shrubs which includes pine trees and cedars. Conifers are the oldest plants on earth, growing to over 5,000 years old and can survive in stressful environments, including drought, strong winds, heat and cold.
